| Falling the day after Vicksburg,
the loss of Port Hudson gave the Union total control of the Mississippi. |

Here two unknown soldiers have been reburied, one Union and one

Mistakenly a white flag was raised allowing the Union to escape. The Union Commander gave an apology the next day. 7 & 8. Fort Desprate. 9, 10, & 11. Position of the 49th Alabama Infantry. 12.
